gardening

i do not pretend to know how to garden

i usually kill my plants, even cactus and bamboo

but so far...

hoorah! still going strong!

in fact, i took a handful, or two, of greens and fed them to mr. edgar, who enjoyed them.

so i was pretty confident when i wanted to do another two flower beds.

the lonely, empty flower beds...

and now...

and happily, i finally got my fruit tree...

blood orange tree.

hopefully it thrives

also, baked some chocolate chip cookies today.

they're good... not as good as my mom's (even though we use the same recipe) but isn't that always the way?

sigh

hubby is making our second meal in the slow cooker! and i am off to read for a while and get ready for work tomorrow

small pleasures

there are some small things that, when they happen, make me smile

a soft, light satisfaction

a quick thought "that was nice" or a secret "hoorah!"

some of those things happened this week:

they are:

being in back of an elevator full of men,  they part to let me exit first

"that was nice"

a forgotten coupon for a free iced coffee

"hoorah!"

public bathrooms make me feel dirty, even when they are very clean

but sometimes at work in the morning, you can tell that it has just been clean and the toliet seat is up and you know that all the germs are gone

"hoorah!"

i come home and a bunny greets me

it's probably because he is hungry, but it's still nice

after fighting traffic to get somehwere, i pull into a kick ass parking space

"hoorah!"

an unexpected invitation out

"hoorah!"

after a long day, a friend being really happy to see you so all your stress melts away

"that was nice"

what about you?

a warm house

someone wanted to come out and play with everyone but we thought it best to keep him contained. really, when there's that many people, he just tries to create an army to take over the world. bunnies. you can't trust them.

housewarming party was saturday and i hope everyone had fun.

always feel a bit worried that it'll be a drag or no one will show up. but i think everyone had a good time. we had it in the afternoon so we could hang out outside (and see the fence hubby and dad in law worked so hard to put up) and of course, i forgot to take pictures. i usually forget. luckily, towards the end of the night, i gave the camera to my friend lamb and she was able to snap a few quick pics

we got sandwiches from jersey mikes, potato chips and doritos. i made fruit salad with cherries, blackberries, blueberries and strawberries. friends brought cookies, cupcakes, bundt cakes and many wonderful gifts like wine, books, and beautiful plants. (my hubby admired the plants and said it's too bad that they are on death row.)
